A Butterfly Bouquet is a unique and beautiful way to add some whimsey to your wedding flowers and decor. Andrea, of Just Ann's Floral Design, created this amazing butterfly bouquet for our DIY brides. Find artificial butterflies and floral supplies on Afloral.com and follow along to make your own bridal bouquet.
To start you will need to gather your materials. Collect a variety of artificial butterflies, in different sizes and colors. You will also need a bouquet arranger, craft wire, floral tape, hot glue gun & glue, and wire cutters.
Some of the small butterflies have clips attached to them, remove the clip carefully to avoid damaging the delicate butterfly. Do this to an assortment of them, about two dozen.
Once the clips are removed use hot glue to attach a wire to the back of the body. Cut a few of the wires shorter than others, wire lengths should vary in length between 3-6". Varying the wire length will make it look more natural.
From here you are ready to start adding the butterflies to your bouquet holder. Start with the larger butterflies at first. Add about two to three at a time. Make sure to turn each butterfly so they are going in different directions.
Add several very close to the base of the bouquet holder to hide it better. To form the basic shape of the bouquet arrange the butterflies on longer wires away from the base of the bouquet arranger.
Now add the smaller butterflies. Place them in-between and around the larger butterflies.
Your bouquet should start to take shape, and look rounder. Make the bouquet full to hide the bouquet holder.
Finish your bouquet with ribbon. Wrap the stems with floral tape at first. Then add a small amount of glue, attach the ribbon and wrap around the stems. Finish with more glue when you reach the top of the stems.
Wow your guests with this special, handmade butterfly bridal bouquet!
